Room in a roof garden, Antwerp, 2018

A couple of filmmakers was searching for a designer for an additional room on top of their home, where to isolate themselves outside the house, away from the quotidian.
On the roof, a shelter was immersed into the existing roof vegetation, drawing inspiration from the Japanese ceremonial tea house.
For the dwellers, a scenographic approach was sought out for the extra room laying between different worlds: inside and outside, one's own and shared, wilderness and urbanity.
The new room sunks into the roof, creating a new green horizon at sitting height.
When standing, one experiences a 360° panoramic view of the neighboring landscape of urban rooftops and beacons scattered in the distance.
