Fashion house, Antwerp, 2005-2007

A new development project in the historical inner city of Antwerp. The relatively small existing rundown building (100m2) will be replaced and will make space for a complex new programme. Besides the housing of the variety of four new functions (storage -1, showroom on the ground floor, office on +1 and a duplex apartment on the +2 and +3 floor level), it is also to manage the entry into the neighbouring building, introduce/maintain the 'green' quality of the dense inner-city block as well as facilitate the needed circulation for the storage area located towards the back. In terms of concept and organisation Fragile Lab has been perceived as a precise and calibrated machine, however its presence, in terms of utility and experience, is to become that of a fragile object.
